Author Biography
Adam Knight is one of the founders of Mac Geekery and is a geek at heart. Programmer by day, hacker by night, his daily life revolves around the Macintosh platform, which he has been a user and programmer for since the early days of System 7 when his LCII replaced his Apple //c.
In-between tech jobs, he’s managed to learn the basics of any web hacker: PHP, MySQL, Perl, Apache, Linux, *BSD, and the intricacies of ./configure —prefix=~/bombshelter/. Today, codepoet is concentrating on blogging again, writing some software for the Mac by himself (including Notae) and for his company (such as Photonic) and has a few other toys coming out soon. Bug him over AIM or email [link fixed].

I am not very keen with terminal commands, so could you please tell me how to edit the shutdown script.
I tried to but when I type /usr/libexec/upsshutdown it just shuts down, no possibility to stop and confgure.
I appreciate your help
Thanks a lot
If you’d like to view this file drop down to a terminal and type “sudo more /usr/libexec/upsshutdown” or to actually edit this file type “sudo pico /usr/libexec/upsshutdown” or use any other text editing program.
I, like maxcon, needs a little direction with this one. I guess I can Pico the thing, I’m just not sure what to imput.
1st do I need to do anything with etc/hostconfig? It says pick up the email from here, so do I need to add it 1st? when I more the /etc/hostconfig I see a list of afpserver …. yes no and so on so not sure what it’s grabbing.
