Bill asks: QuestionHow can you tell who has your drives mounted? I work at a small company and we have alot of external drives on differnt computer. To work on something we mount all the drive you need and work, However if you have to restart or shut down you have you call all the other users and see if they are using your drives, is there a program or something that can tell you who is using your drives? Thanks AnswerMac OS X Server does this, but that shouldn’t be a surprise. The question is how to do this on a desktop Mac, and there’s an answer: AFS Monitor. Install Sharepoints and turn on logging and then run AFS Monitor and it will give you the information you need by skimming that logfile.

Author Biography Adam Knight is one of the founders of Mac Geekery and is a geek at heart. Programmer by day, hacker by night, his daily life revolves around the Macintosh platform, which he has been a user and programmer for since the early days of System 7 when his LCII replaced his Apple //c. In-between tech jobs, he’s managed to learn the basics of any web hacker: PHP, MySQL, Perl, Apache, Linux, *BSD, and the intricacies of ./configure —prefix=~/bombshelter/. Today, codepoet is concentrating on blogging again, writing some software for the Mac by himself (including Notae) and for his company (such as Switchblade) and has a few other toys coming out soon.
