remove mdimporter from list of spotlight pluginshello there, I would like to remove/disable some mdimporter plugins to prevent spotlight ‘caring’ about those types of files. mdimport -L shows: “/System/Library/Spotlight/Image.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/Audio.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/Font.mdimporter”, “/Applications/OmniGraffle Professional.4.1.1.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/OmniGraffle.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/PS.mdimporter”, “/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Entourage.mdimporter”, “/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Office.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/iPhoto.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/RichText.mdimporter”, “/Applications/OmniOutliner.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/OmniOutliner.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/QuickTime.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/Mail.mdimporter”, “/Library/Spotlight/AppleWorks.mdimporter”, “/Library/Spotlight/Keynote.mdimporter”, “/Library/Spotlight/SourceCode.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/QuartzComposer.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/vCard.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/Application.mdimporter”, “/Library/Spotlight/Pages.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/PDF.mdimporter”, “/Applications/Cyberduck.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/Cyberduck Spotlight Importer.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/Bookmarks.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/Chat.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/SystemPrefs.mdimporter”, “/Users/mickangel/Library/PreferencePanes/Growl.prefPane/Contents/Resources/GrowlHelperApp.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/GrowlImporter.mdimporter”, “/System/Library/Spotlight/iCal.mdimporter”The one I’d like to remove is for Cyberduck, but in fact the removing or disabling of any mdimporter plugins is an interesting question in itself. I’ve tried googling: most relevant results are for ADDING a new plugin. I could simple remove the mdimporter bundle but I assume that there is a more elegant way of doing it. Any ideas? Hi,
sorry, I can`t help you since I got to your post on account of wanting to do the exact same thing. On my Powerbook the mdimport process is using way to much CPU and I suspect cyberduck to be the reason. I`ll tell you as soon as I found a solution.
