Everytime I start up, (in verbose mode) I can see it’s trying to find something related to an app developed by Phil Zimmerman (zFone). I couldn’t get it to work, so I tried removing it with AppZapper.
The app is gone, but that silly startup item is still there. I fired up an app called Lingon (launchd editor) but no entry in there either.
Any idea how I can remove that entry? I wish I could give you guys more info what it says, but basically it’s just saying it can’t find something related to zFone.
I would try and read up on the documentation… but his site seems down right now.
That will locate anything with zFone in the name on your drive. Alternatively, check:
If you still have the original package that installed it (presuming it was installed with a normal Apple package) you can see where it put its files using the
lsbomtool like so:Unfortunately cp, none of your methods worked, but I take full blame, since I didn’t provide full details.
Anyhoo, under /etc look for two files: rc.local and rc.zfone.
Under rc.local, it says:
echo “Starting zFone IP Filter”
./etc/rc.zfone
and under rc.zfone
#zFone starting script
/Applications/zFone.app/Contents Resources/voipd
I’m not very comfortable with the way this app has behaved, but oh well. Making backups of the two files, and then clearing rc.local and trashing rc.zfone
