Hi everyone, most of the time I have a pair of external speakers connected to my macbook. Recently i unplugged them and found out that my mac had no sound at all. I went to system preferences, sound and then the output tab were I saw this: “the selected device has no output controls”. I havent been doing nothing out of the ordinary to cause this trouble except that I installed a few days ago the EFI firmware update 1.1. At least thats what i think. What can i do? Look in the headphone jack for the red light of the optical, digital output. There is a switch in the headphone jack that is supposed to switch it to digital when an optical connecter is plugged in. Sometimes the switch gets stuck in digital. Plugging and unplugging headphones may fix it. If not, try poking around with a toothpick.
