Main user account missing?

I have been previously using a G5 tower model, and just today I just received a brand new 20” iMac (with iSight). I hooked the two computers up and booted up the iMac for the first time and the set up bit came up and let me transfer all of my stuff from my old computer to this new one. It did its thing and said everything had been transferred fine. However, when the new iMac boots up, there should be four user accounts available, but the first and main one on the list (which is my own) doesn’t appear on the list at all.

All of the account’s stuff is still there, because if I go into the account system options it’s on that list still and I can check on the automatic login for that user account and it will automatically boot into it and everything’s there. I’ve tried deleting the other three accounts, but no matter what I do, that one account (my own) won’t appear on the login list when you turn on the computer.

I’ve seen posts on this forum talking about hidden user accounts and everything, but in all of those examples, you say that in those cases there’s another account called “other” to let you know that there’s some hidden. I don’t have anything like that. My user account just won’t show up.

Any suggestions on what’s causing this and what I can do to fix it?

Thanks
