I have two accounts: one standard and one admin. I added the standard one to the sudoers so I could run daily scripts and a few other things from there. Yesterday I changed the standard account’s short name using ChangeShortName 1.2, but forgot that the sudoers list responded to the old name. So afterwards I tried to add the new name to the sudoers and the first thing I noticed was that I couldn’t delete anything. I have to type about 3 or 4 characters in order for the terminal to respond. In a normal situation I would change the old short name for the new one, save the file, and “Shift + :” so I can add a “wq” cuz if I just quit the thing I end up getting a swap file (which if I delete I get the old file back). Now, the problem is that when I “Shift + :” the terminal doesn’t behave as if I was going to add a command, but instead it just adds the “:” as if I was writing text. No longer can I add the “wq” and always end up getting a swap file. I know less about terminal than I know about quantum physics… just trying to do what I can to have a safe computer; but I’m not stupid. I did know it was dangerous to change the short name and decided to do it anyways because I DO back up my stuff and didn’t mind the adventure. Any help would be awesome. Thanx. ps. Yes, I’m on admin.
