Now granted, these are Live TV production servers (Quad-Core Xenons) that should basically never get cycled anyway, but we are in the throws on installation and it happens. Point being, they are all headless (not even a KVM – it’s not my spec!) and after each restart, all you can see via ARD is a scrambled bunch lines… Plugging in any monitor (not just an adapter tho) instantly whips ARD into shape, but this is a bit of a pain… I looked at ScreenUtil, but I’m not sure if this will work w/out a physical monitor attached, and today they are actually doing live tv with these servers, so it’s not the best time to experiment… Thus 2 questions: WHY? What to do?

Why? ARD sucks in so many ways…
Try restarting ARD with the
kickstartcommand (search the site) and see if that helps you. If not, plug in a display and then set the resolution to 1024×768@32b and then unplug the display and restart the unit and see if that does anything for you.
