I’m going to install Wordpress (blogging software) on a server, so that I can create a blog on my site.
Can I do this on my .mac space (my idisk), so that I can use this as a webhotel?
Wordpress requires MySQL on the server.
first, im going to say no. But then I’m going to ask what a webhotel is and assume from my googleing that it is a kind of webhost type service. Under this assumption, I must say that installing installing software or databases on a remote drive is a bad idea. It requires network unreasonable response time and would be ridiculously slow. Running software from a remote space is a bad idea even if it will be mostly in ram. databases aren’t that … network transparent themselves. a database is not just some file on a machine (unless you mean sqlite).
