ARD =Unix command

IS there an unix command that I can use with remote desktop to change the “Energy Saver” setting scheduled to turn on and off at certain times? I have approximately 120 computers at work that need this set up changed and don’t want to do each one.

I’m on a PowerMac G5 tower (2.0 Ghz) running 10.4.10. Last night all characters on the desktop and in the Finder turned into the letter “A” with a square around it. Additionally, many programs are acting strangely. Safari crashes about every minute and even when I select “About this Mac” I am taken back to the login screen. I ran Clam Xav and found one questionable file, but upon restart the problems are still the same. Any suggestions?! Thank you in advance.

Another question. I have created a couple of libraries (not as straightforward as it could be) and I’m looking for the library file so that when I want to open the library I can find it. When I use spotlight it tells me the file (for example, “iTunes Music Library.xml”) is in “iTunes Music Library.” AAHHHHHHH! Where is that? It gives no path to find it — no slashes, no nothing. I’m starting to feel like this whole library thing was a big mistake, but I’m too far in now. Please, help!

Thanks so much!

Hi,

I created a new library on an external hard drive and a smaller library on my MBP. Everything is fine except that all of my most recent purchased stuff disappeared from iTunes. This means I can’t access, among other things, my tv shows. THey’re on my hard drive (both external and MBP), but I can’t get iTunes to find them. Please help!

Thanks so much.

Just curious if anyone out there has installed Parallels and bootcamp? If so did you use the same Windows license in the virtual PC environment of Parallels as you did with bootcamp? Also would you need to install the programs on virtual machines, mac and pc partitions? To use in either environment?

Has anyone else out there been experiencing a lot of random Quark crashes in 6.5 running on an Intel-based Macintosh? Any Tips?

Does anyone know how to properly repackage this wonderful pile of offal known as Adobe Reader 8?

So far I have the components, but simply putting them in place is not enough.

I have OS X on a mac mini.

I can’t get Itunes to encode anything.
The encoder is a mystery to me.
I need to convert mp2 files to AIFF.
and,
convert AIff to mp3 format.
Can somebody instruct me on this procedure.
I’ve tried following MAC HELP routines,
but they don’t work.

I’m not a tech geek, I’m a novice dolt.

hello there,

I would like to remove/disable some mdimporter plugins to prevent spotlight ‘caring’ about those types of files.
